My trip to the UNITED STATES!
FiReWall
Dear members & friends,

Since this tuesday, 7th of June, I'm back in town (Belgium).
As you all know I've been in the United States for one week (30th of May - 4th of June)
I have visited New York city for 5 days and Washington DC for 2 days.

It was an awesome experience, something I will never forget.
You might think "30th of May till 4th of June in the US, but why did you arrive in Belgium the 7th?"
Well, we had some problems with the airplane back home Pfft

I will try to tell my vacation detailed with some pictures Smile

DAY 1: Arrival & Visit Time Square

is not a valid Image.

Day 1, we took off in Brussels for a flight of 10 hours.
We left early in the morning and arrived in the US, JFK international airport at noon (6 hours difference).
From the airport we went straight to our hotel, Bedford hotel, at the 40th East Street.
Our hotel was on "walk distance" from Time Square.

After unpacking our lugage we went to Time Square to admire the hughe advertisement screens Grin
Afterwards we did some shopping and visited the m&m shop and the hardrock café.
That was pretty much what we did on day 1.

Oh yes, we visited also PACHA NYC discotheque in the evening Pfft

DAY 2: Liberty day

As the title says, we visited the statue of liberty, liberty island Smile
The statue itself is really impressive. How did people manage to build this in 1886 without cranes or other heavy machinery, I wonder.
Also the view on NYC, Manhattan was incredible;

After Liberty island we visited Ellis island, the island where the Europeans arrived for starting
a new life in the US in the early 19's.

After visiting the serveral islands we went to ground zero, that was pretty much it for day 2.

DAY 3: Rushday

On day 3 we did alot of walking; we visited the first skyscraper, the chelsea hotel, chinatown, staten island
and finnaly the EMPIRE STATE BUILDING!

What a view!

In the evening we went to the BXL café, a Belgium pub.
Here we drunk serveral Duvel's (famous Belgium beer) and we ate a steak with belgium fries Pfft
Later in the evening we went to a rooftopparty, unfortunately I couldn't enter because I'm not 21 yet.
So we decided to move along, and how! In a limo we crossed New York at 2 o'clock with several bottle's of champagne Pfft
It only cost us 15 dollars (12 people), I can tell you this was real ambience! In the end we ended up in a disco named Ciello's and partied for another couple of hours Pfft

DAY 4: Park day

Less interessting day, we visited grand central park.
Afterwards we went shopping on 5th ave and Madisons ave.

In the evening we visited the Brooklynn bridge.
Afterwards we went to the pub down in the 40th East street.
We drunk jagermeister shot's all night long, the next day I would wake up with my clothes still on Pfft
The first blackout of our vacation in the US was a fact Grin

DAY 5: Money day

Money day, what could that be?
Well, we visited Wall street and we took a look inside NYSE (New York Stock Exchange).

In the evening we had a closing dinner in NY with view on the Brooklynn bridge.

After this dinner we went back to the Hotel to warmup for another big party!
This time I was prepared, I had an ID of some1 who was 21 Pfft
It was no problem at all to access this rooftop party Pfft

Some party pictures;

DAY 6: Capital day

Early in the morning we left NY by train for Washington DC.
After sleeping for 3 hours in the train we arrived in DC.

We visited the Capitol and drunk some beers in the streets of DC.
In the evening we had a big closing party on one of the room's of our fellow students.

Afterwards we went to a college party, but this turned out to be for black people :S
And we had to pay 20$ entrance instead of the free entrance that was promised.

We moved along and crossed whole DC without any succes, every disco or pub closes at 2 o'clock there.
It was a disillusionment for us, in addition we almost got arrested because one of our friends was so drunk while crossing the
streets in DC. The capitol police is very strict in this matter! Sadly we returned to our rooms, was this our last evening in the US?
So bad experience, this couldn't be I thought myself...

DAY 7: Obama day

Our last day in the US.
In the morning we visited the pentagon, arlington cemetery and of course the White house.

is not a valid Image.

After visiting the White House we went straight to Reagan National Airport in Washington.
We flew to Chicago, this was only a flight of 2 hours.

In Chicago we would transfer straight to Brussels.
Unfortunately, while sitting in the plane for like 2,5 hours the plane didn't take off...
Why? We still don't know.

We sat in the airport till 1 o'clock till they finnaly transfered us to the Crown Plaza Hotel.
In the Crown Plaza Hotel we had a very short night, slept like 4 hours.

DAY 8: Budapest day

American Airlines promised us that they would transfer us all together to Budapest,
where we could take the first flight to Brussels (same day).

After 12 hours of flying across the Atlantic ocean we arrived in Budapest, Hungary.
When we arrived it became clear that not all of us would step on the plane straight to Brussels.
Only 10 of us could fly to Brussels the same day.

We were stuck in Budapest ! A Godforsaken country in the former Eastern bloc.

Again we moved to an airport hotel...
We had some refreshments and travelled to the inner city of Budapest Pfft
Since we were here, we could visit this city aswell, an additional citytrip included in the price xD

What I remember from Budapest; the inner city around the Donau is pretty nice.
But the suburbs were really dirty and dangerous. I also stated that there are alot of stripclubs Pfft

In Budapest we bought 2 bottle's of Martini Brut to celebrate our final evening in the hotel!
Apparently there was a Jacuzzi in the hotel that was available 24/24.
So I went with the pretty girl, you might have noticed her on the pictures above, and 2 other friends to the Jacuzzi with
our bottle's of champagne Pfft

This was much more the kind of closing party I hoped for! (unlike Washington DC final evening)
At 9:45 am we took the plane in Business class to Belgium

Finnaly we were home! After 68 hours of traveling Wink
Home sweet home, but I miss those good times in NY very badly!
These were unforgettable experiences !! I will never forget this of my life !!

I hope you enjoyed my travel story.
Sorry for being inactive the last days but I had to recover from the jetlag and the major parties Pfft

Greetings
